My father was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2010. Over the ensuing years he fought this and endured the treatments. This took a toll on his state of mind, and by the end of October 2017, Mum put him into hospital for treatment of the depression. It was a hard road, he was in hospital for seven weeks, and responding well to the treatment.
While dad was in hospital, a mate of mine shared a link to Beyond Bitumen 2018 - I thought it looked like a great way to spend some time with Dad once he was back home, so I told him about it. He was looking forward to the event.
On December 12, just before he was to come home, Dad suffered a brain haemorrhage. Early the following morning, he died.
I decided to enter Beyond Bitumen anyway, and invited Dad's brother Trevor, and my good mate Roy to join me. I hope you are able to support our efforts to raise funds for beyondblue.
